How to Knit Faster Bobbles with Knitting in the Park
Love the look of bobbles in your knitting but hate how long they take (all of the back and forth, and back and forth)?
You can leverage knitting and purling backwards to speed up the process of knitting a bobble, making them enjoyable to make and easy to incorporate into your patterns.

Knitting Musings: My Thoughts on Machine Knitting
Просмотров 35Год назад
Previously I used to get upset when people used a knitting machine and called it a hand knit or knitted hat. Truth be told, I think it was jealously (that these people could make hats and various items faster than me and command the same price). But a recent revelation while sewing made me confront my feelings head on and even change my mind. What are your thoughts on knitting machines/machine ...
Pattern Review Rant: Let's chat about what is promised in a pattern and how to leave a "good" review
Просмотров 46Год назад
Recently I saw a review on another designer's Etsy account that floored me. We don't have to put tutorials in our patterns. I put them in mine to make sure that everyone can complete my patterns, but they're not required. Also, a quick search of my site, or any designer's owned media in general will likely give you the information you need to understand and complete the project. Lastly: what's ...

How I fix my folded brims in Knitting in the Park Patterns
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 года назад
Most of my hat patterns call for half twisted rib and they all give the option to knit a folded brim. In this video I am going to show you how I knit the cast on edge together with my live stitches to fix the brim in place. This is especially helpful in hats for babies, toddlers, and children.

And the grit of the sandpaper would be....??? (Wouldn't that be a crucial information to share?)
Not really, just something fine so that the needle tip is smooth to your touch. Thanks for commenting.
Such a pretty stitch in that yarn. Please what yarn are you using?
I'm not sure she still has this colorway but it's two DK yarns from Yarn Baby. She has amazing yarns though!! www.yarnbaby.biz/category/dk-weight-yarn
The pattern is confusing for knitting the Snowy White tree skirt flat. "Border Section: Starting on a wrong side row. Purl the last ST of every wrong side row together with a stitch from the body of the Christmas Tree Skirt." But in the cable section part it says "Set Up Row: K6, P12 K5, K2tog (1 from short cable and one from tree skirt)" Do these instructions contradict eachother? Or am I missing something?
I'll double check the instructions and get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for raising this question!
This video is a general video since I have three different tree skirt patterns published all using the same technique of knitting the border on a separate circular needle and attaching it as you work. I apologize for the confusion created here. The Snowy white tree skirt has a bit of garter stitch at the edges of the border section. So the instructions for starting and joining on the wrong side are applicable from this video. I had a typo saying purl together rather than knit together in the instructions and I do apologize for that. If you email me, I'd like to gift you a free pattern for bringing this to my attention. Sometimes I miss things like this with my dyslexia :) and people like you help me improve the pattern!
@@KnittinginthePark That makes sense, thank you for the explanation. Since the skirt is so big in diameter I didn't want to do this step wrong and have to undo all those stitches.
when i knit i have all the stitches on the needle in my right hand in the pattern i am trying to knit it has notes tell how to make a cable and to drop the last two stitches off the left needle. does that mean i have to make the project left handed?
That's a great question, and I am so sorry about the delay (I've been dealing with some health issues). You work backwards rather than turning the project. So you knit across as normal, and then instead of turning, you go back across the same side "working backwards). Does that help at all?
you knit fast. it is hard to follow you
ohh that's a really good suggestion, I'll have to try it. It sounds faster!
I've used a hairdryer to get the same effect.
That cable is almost straight before you started.
it was because i was holding it, it was curling in on itself. If you don't believe that it works why not try it for yourself?
Turning the gas flame off would be a good idea!
You could totally do that for safety. I wanted to keep a consistent temp while trying this to remove a variable.
Thanks for sharing this video 🙏🌷🌷🌷
You're so welcome! The twisted knit stitch has become the only knit stitch that I use in brims and cuffs. You can purl through the back as well :)
I thought... lifesaver!! Ive just frogged (for the..5th?!) 19rows of 200+ stitches...re-caught all stitches on my new needles and cable to realise "noo this is worse!!"....help! Oh thank goodness, a video to relax the cable.....ah... bottoms 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️to catch them all again...or persevere til ive increased enough for it not to matter 🤦🏻♀️😂 oh the joys!! Fab advice though, thank you!!! This will be VERY useful ❤️
Good luck! What are you making??
Wow i have this same machine and i cant find any info on it. I used it for years and loved it so much and tried to clean it once and now i have it in pieces ): i live in Los Angeles and have many repair shops around me and quoted me over $150😂 just bought a singer heavy duty instead and works just as well but definitely using the nelco was just something so satisfying while working on it.
ohh no I'm so sorry to hear that! I wasn't able to find anything really on this one. We still have it, it's just sadly sitting in my basement until I can find the time and energy to tackle this one again....well, that and get better at sewing.
Bom dia muito bom
Nice babe!
Thank you!
Hi from Texas! This is the first time I watch your podcast, and I loved the caos, your baby making cute sounds, and your dog asking for attention. I just want to share that I crochet, knit with needles, with a knitting machine, and with knitting looms, and I enjoy creating things using any of those tools, and sometimes I create things using two of those tools in the same project. I love the possibilities those different tools offer to my creativity
Ahhh thank you so much for connecting and sharing! It's so nice to hear your perspective and your thoughts. When it comes to knitting needles are you more of a straights or circulars?
looks good Mag
Worse than trolls.
Definitely
This is so handy! I like that you showed several different ways to wear a shawl.
Thank you so much! Did you have a favorite way?
You can also achieve this by holding it over your toaster 🙂
I never would have thought of that! Might be worth a try next time!
That’s very nice and interesting ty❤
thank you!
This is excellent; however, I would like to see the finished product.
Can u do this for wood needles?
You should be able to do this with any needle really. You are primarily exposing the cable connecting the needles to the steam or the water. I wouldn't recommend submerging the wooden part just in case they absorb water or lose their coating.
Hi. I just found your video and I see it's older, but hopefully you might see this. I am just now doing my cactus kit and I have a question that you could possibly help me with. For the flowerpot Round 8 states: Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep *6 times [30 sts] No problem here. Rounds 9-13 states: Sc in each st around. [24 sts] Where are they decreasing? I'm wondering if it's a typo or maybe I should do an invisible decrease? I'd love to have your input. Thanks!
I might be able to try to help. I don't have my kit any more so I don't have something to reference but comment your question and we can try to work together. If I don't have an answer I might be able to help get you in touch with someone that does!!
Just emailed them. I'm not quite sure and it's been a while since working with this.
Got a response! it looks like the stitch count for Rounds 9 - 13 is incorrect and should read as 30 stitches, not 24. There is no need to decrease for Rounds 9 - 13.
Plz uplaod totally twisted hate
Nice
for the actual guts of this video jump to about 4:30
shes like "wheres mine mom??"
You're on fire babe
Like the way this one came out!
Thanks for this video. I have my grandmothers circular needles and was ready to give up on them because the plastic was so stiff. Thanks again!
How'd it work out for you??
I rehab old machines...I live in southern Ohio, if we lived close I would love to get it working for ya, no charge...just enjoy doing it
Robert thank goodness for angels like you! Have you seen or worked with this model before?
@@KnittinginthePark I haven't worked with this machine before, but their all made simular
Thanks
I do a lot of hand finishing to my machine knitted garments, and this method will be my go to cast off in future. Thanks for a great tutorial.💯
What a great way to combine them!
What cast on did you use?
I use a long tail cast on method for my hats.
These dresses look amazing on you!
thank you!
I’ve just finished a knitted shawl and this was an excellent video! Thank you 😍 also your dog is so cute! 💕
That means so much to me - thank you!! And oh my goodness is he a ham
…I’ve never had trouble with my mom’s decades old bamboo needles. The oils of hands made them slick and gave a nice patina. I do prefer my aluminum ones because they are a larger size, and I like the click sound. But my mom’s old bamboo needles work great. I’ve never had splinters. Use made then smooth and hard and rounded pleasantly.
I've never had any splinters, but they did round off and it made certain knitting projects a bit harder to work - the sanding made them a bit pointier and easier to work with.
Do you have pattern for your beautiful Mütze pls?
As a beginner I made my first shawl in Aran weight unfortunately I ran out of yarn and it has now been discontinued but I can now see it working in different ways. The point sits just below my shoulder blades so I can use it as a scarf or a kerchief so glad it won’t be wasted.
way to pivot! That's a great "make it work" type moment. So happy for you
So beautiful
Thank you!
Thanks, this was great ;)
Thank you!!
I’m a beginner, I’m going to do all my hats this way. Thank you for Sharing
So happy that you found this useful
Do you have a picture of the directions ? 🥺😭 I lost mine
Have you tried emailing them? So sorry I'm just seeing this comment now.
How do you knit this flat please
So sorry Matthew I'm just seeing this now. I'm not the best with seaming my pieces so I tend to knit in the round. I would hazard to guess though that you could apply the same technique to knitting the hat flat: Every other row you would do the opposite though. So if I'm using twisted knits on my odd rows, you'd use twisted purls on the even rows.
I’ve just finished making a hat with this yarn in the pink and looks the pattern I used also lol. If my niece doesn’t want it when she opens it at Christmas I definitely want it back. It’s warm and soft!!
I hope she loves it but if not, I hope you get to love it just as much! Was the yarn a pleasure to knit with?
I loved your ideas thank you
How are the shawls treating you these days?
This is such a great video and I love the captions. Thank you so much.
Hi there thank you for the video. Have a question i have a circular needle with a like wire cable how can I relax it.
Have you tried this technique with it? You might need to hold it over the heat for a bit longer. I might have one of these types of needles that I can test it out with.
I just completed a sparkly shawl to wear with a sleeveless dress to a wedding. I had no idea how to wear it. Thank so much for this information. I’ve tied it behind making it look like a shrug and it looks fabulous!! Thank you!!
Oh my goodness, I'm just reviving my channel and didn't see this comment until now and I'm so happy for you! I'd love to see a photo!
I want to make my stainless steel needles dull. How can I do that?
That is a great question. Is the reason that they are too slippery for you?
Lend them to me! Lol. My poor aluminum needles (the very first pair I ever got) look like chopsticks, the tips are so rounded.
So when the pumpkins are done you're going to start whipping up tree skirts again?
Guilty. I have two new ideas that I dreamt up today :)
